All-weather carrier attack aircraft ·First flight 1960 · In service 1963
The Grumman A-6 Intruder was the US Navy's all-weather, day-or-night carrier attack aircraft, its advanced radar and nav/attack system letting it find and hit targets in conditions that grounded everyone else.
Blunt-nosed, subsonic and side-by-side seated, the Intruder carried a heavy load a long way and formed the backbone of naval strike aviation for over thirty years.
