The Junkers Ju 87 Stuka was Germany's precision dive bomber, its cranked inverted-gull wing and fixed spatted undercarriage among the most recognisable shapes of the Second World War.
Fitted with a wailing "Jericho Trumpet" siren to terrify those below, the Stuka was devastating as spearhead of the early Blitzkrieg — but slow and vulnerable once it met determined fighter opposition.
