The Sikorsky S-97 Raider is a technology demonstrator for the high-speed compound helicopter, using rigid coaxial rotors plus a rear pusher propeller to fly far faster than a conventional design.
The coaxial layout cancels torque and lets the rotor push into speeds that would stall an ordinary helicopter, pointing toward a new generation of fast rotorcraft.
